U.S. airline Delta has announced its first non-stop service from the west of Ireland to New York JFK since 2019.

The new daily route will offer passengers no less than 70 potential onward destinations, including to other U.S. cities like San Francisco, Miami, Los Angeles, and Orlando.

A Boeing 767-300 will service the new route with four different cabin experiences available depending on ticket price. In Delta One, passengers will enjoy fully flat-bed seats, in Delta Premium Select the seats have more legroom and recline further back, while there are more economical options in Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin.

Every seat in each cabin has a seat-back screen that shows Delta Studio entertainment, free mobile messaging and WiFi on demand.

It's forecast that around 3,000 seats will be for sale between Shannon and the Big Apple every week throughout the summer months for anyone looking for an American adventure.

With this latest route up and running, Delta will serve two points of entry in Ireland this summer with a total of 35 weekly flights to and from the States.

This includes a new daily flight from Dublin to Minneapolis that was launched in early May and daily services from Dublin to Atlanta, Boston and JFK.

The airline carried out research recently that showed Ireland is one of the Top 10 most searched-for international destinations on Delta.com with searches by American travellers up 150% in 2024 compared to 2023.
