The Denver Division Safeway team was back in action supporting the Muscular Dystrophy Association with a fun BBQ dinner. We served up steak and burgers and a lot of mac & cheese to nearly 100 campers and counselors. As a bonus, we surprised MDA with a $20K check to allow more campers to participate in this amazing week long program. For more than 25 years, Albertsons/Safeway has been proud to partner with MDA. Thanks to Heather Halpape Todd Broderick Paul Nichols and the entire Distribution Center team along with Mike Gillette Brock Tonn Kenny Smith Heather Lovato Joe Sparks and our fabulous sales managers and Idaho Springs store team for volunteering. MDA camp is a special place and the BBQ dinner is a Safeway traditon we look forward to each year.

Congratulations to our friends and neighbors at Cleo Parker Robinson Dance (CPRD) for a successful and very well attended ground breaking ceremony. I was humbled (and scared beyond words) to dance representing Safeway as a 2021 CPRD “Star” and have seen first hand the impact this amazing organization has on so many people. The new Cleo Parker Robinson Center for Healing and Arts is a legacy project and it was so cool to see the work begin. Bonus - I got to spend time with my good friend and former co-worker Rhetta Shead

Safeway Denver store 2714 hosted the 15th annual Media/Employee Bagging Challenge this week and we sure had some fun! Denver reporters teamed up with Safeway employees/Special Olympics athletes to race against each for the title of Best Bagger. Thanks to our parters at KUSA-TV, 9NEWS Denver7 (KMGH-TV) CBS4 FOX31 KDVR / Channel 2 KWGN 850KOA and Altitute Sports for making this such a great event. Over the years, Safeway’s Denver Divison has granted more than $5M to local organizations like Special Olympics Colorado, Arc Thrift Stores, Easter Seals, MDA and many more. #Bestworkdayever!

This past week we celebrated Ivie Crawford, Albertsons Safeway Denver Division Financial Analyst as part of Women's History Month. Ivie is fantastic to work with - she's detail oriented, deadline driven and always willing to tackle new projects. Shout out to the Denver WIIN Committee for coordinating these great interviews and giving our team a snapshot of our female associates.
